Round 2, Pick 59

Original Selection: Tanoh Kpassagnon, DE – Villanova

New Selection: Alvin Kamara, RB – Tennessee

Kpassagnon was an interesting selection. He isn’t necessarily a bad pick. He got off to a slow start for the Chiefs and started showing some positive flashes last year. After only turning in 11 tackles and two sacks his first two years in the league, Kpassagnon delivered 29 tackles, four sacks and two passes defended in 2019. He is a nice player with upside but isn’t living up to his billing as a second-round pick.

Kamara, on the other hand, was selected at the beginning of the third-round at No. 67 overall by the New Orleans Saints and has been a beast since his rookie season. In his three years in the league, Kamara has averaged 5.0 yards per carry, notched 2,408 yards on the ground and scored 27 touchdowns. The Tennessee product is equally as deadly in the passing game, adding another 2,008 yards and 10 touchdowns through the air.

The Chiefs needed running back help at the time and drafted Kareem Hunt in the third round. While Hunt got off to a stellar start in his own right, off-field problems forced the Chiefs to cut him in 2018. It’s safe to say the Chiefs would have been much better off selecting Kamara.

In fact, they might have won Super Bowl LIII.
