Round 2

Trey Adams. 39. player. Scouting Report. Washington. Offensive Tackle. 818. Pick Analysis

With two more picks in the second round of the draft, Miami can and should continue to transform the offensive side of the ball. After investing significantly in the defense during free agency, it simply makes the most sense. So, after addressing issues at skill positions in round one, the team fills arguably its biggest offensive whole with a new starting left tackle to protect their franchise quarterback. Trey Adams is massive at 6-foot-8 and weighing 318 pounds. He is perhaps even a little thin on his frame, meaning he can bulk up and get even better. A history of injuries pushes him out of the first round but this is an easy choice for Miami.

After going heavy offense with the first four picks, the Dolphins close out the second round with their first defensive selection, acquiring a speedy former track star to man centerfield for the unit. Davis will need some time to develop his full skills. He went to college on a track scholarship and walked on to the football team. As such, some of his skill set is incredibly raw. But his speed, range and awareness are intangibles that cannot be taught. He could be a home run when we look back on this draft in three years. Fortunately, he’ll have time to develop as the Dolphins start their team from ground zero this summer.
