Round 3

Pick Analysis. Jonah Jackson. Ohio State. 70. player. Scouting Report. Guard. 812

The team picked up Ereck Flowers to man one of the guard positions on their rebuilding offensive line, but they should still invest a quality draft pick in shoring up the other guard spot or at the very least, building depth.

Jackson is an excellent prospect who combines impressive strength (28 reps at the combine) with stout size at 6-foot-3 and 306 pounds. He’s a rare breed among elite college players since he played four years at Rutgers and then transferred to Ohio State for his fifth season. All he did there was win a starting spot on the offensive line and finish as a third-team All American.

Jackson is a much better pass protector than run blocker but with time to develop hand placement and hip movement to sustain blocks on rush plays, he has the intangibles to be effective there too. Jackson may come in as a backup but no one should be surprised to see him take over a starting job by season’s end or at least, by the start of 2021.
