Pick Analysis. Missouri. Jordan Elliott. Scouting Report. 102. player. 822. Defensive Tackle

The Steelers need to come away from this offseason with a new starting defensive tackle to replace Hargrave. It will be a tall task to do that without a first-round selection, but after addressing the offense with their first pick of the draft in the second round, the team has to make defense a priority in the third round.

Jordan Elliott is a bit raw by NFL standards and will certainly have a learning curve being thrust into a starting lineup this early. I suspect the Steelers address that issue by signing a veteran free agent on a minimum deal that can start for a the first few weeks and mentor Elliott.

But, the 6-foot-4, 305 pound Missouri Tiger product is worthy of a selection in the draft’s first three rounds based on athletic potential. He’s very strong and frankly has room on his frame to add another 20 or 30 pounds, making him an ideal candidate at nose tackle. The big guy ran a 5.02, 40-yard dash at the combine — incredible for a man of his size.

NFL Analysts say that he’s a “skilled hand-fighter with explosive upper body strength to stack, read and react in an odd or even front. Elliott has experience in a variety of alignments, allowing teams to move him up and down the line depending on matchups. ”
