Tons of teams would like to come away with a quality starter at cornerback in Round 1 of this year’s draft. The No. 1 corner on the board, Jeff Okudah, is good enough to help right away. The same can’t be said for Henderson.

The consensus No. 2 corner in this class has a lot of physical talent, but his production at Florida doesn’t match his status as a potential top-15 pick. He’s got a chance to grow into a good player in time, but that probably won’t happen for him in his rookie season.

The team that picks him is going to put him on the field early. That could ruin his confidence before he has a chance to grow accustomed to life in the NFL. Don’t be surprised if Henderson suffers a few high-profile mistakes in his first couple games as a professional.

That would be acceptable if Henderson looked like a player who had Pro Bowl potential. Instead, his ceiling appears to be as a slightly above average starter. There’s simply not enough upside in Henderson’s game to justify making him a pick in the middle of Round 1. He’s a guy who is set to benefit too much from the lack of talent behind Okudah at corner.
