Top players

Auburn had four players who averaged double-digit points in the 2019-20 season, but two, in particular, stood out for their body of work.

Samir Doughty ascended from his first season at Auburn, when he mostly specialized as an outside scorer, to become their leader in points per game, at 16.7. Though he made just 41.2 percent of his shots, the senior transfer from VCU had 11 games of at least 10 points and two of over 30.

The efficiency woes were concerning for his potential draft stock, but Doughty stepped up when necessary, including the last game of the season to end Auburn’s downswing, scoring 32 points against Tennessee.

Freshman Isaac Okoro was as intriguing as any player on the roster, though. The future NBA draftee stands 6-foot-6 with a solid 6-foot-8 wingspan, which came into play as a defensive piece throughout the season (nearly one steal and one block per game). Otherwise, he averaged 12.9 points, 4.4 rebounds and 2 assists per game on 51.2 percent shooting.

Center, Austin Wiley finally came through in his third season, as well, averaging 10.6 points, 9.3 rebounds and 1.6 blocks per game as a steady presence at the rim.

The Tigers had steady contributions across the board, leading to their successful season. Some of these players could be gone, however, meaning the next group atop the roster will have a revamped look.
