2020 NBA Mock Draft 3.0: Knicks and Bulls walk away happy
By Zach Hood
The fit here is nice, as Deni Avdija doesn’t project as a No. 1 or even No. 2 option offensively. His passing could help both D’Angelo Russell and Karl-Anthony Towns, and his movement off the ball should help him create offensive for himself. The 6-foot-9 forward/wing hybrid moves well for his size, especially in the open floor. He would provide the Wolves with another tool to develop alongside their 1-2 punch and last year’s lottery pick, Jarrett Culver.
The biggest question mark for Avdija regarding his ceiling is his efficiency from both the 3-point line and the free-throw stripe. If he can’t shoot, this probably turns out to be the wrong pick at No. 4. If he shoots as he has recently in Europe, he could be one of the better all-around 6-foot-9 playmakers in the NBA at his peak. He possesses multiple skills — running the floor, passing (both in transition and in the half-court), as well as potential defensive versatility since he has size and is a capable athlete.
