. EDGE. Fighting Irish . Julian Okwara. 68. player. 819

Okwara is an exciting athlete for his size (6-foot-4, 258 pounds) who likely would have gone much higher in the draft if not for a broken left leg he suffered last season.

He possesses an explosive first step and ability to bend the edge and was very productive over the course of his career for the Fighting Irish when he was on the field. He’s best suited to thrive in one-on-one matchups and has the ability to play standing up or with his hand in the dirt.

The Jets were near the middle of the pack in pass rush win rate last season but adding more burst and speed off the edge with a player like Okwara can help them move even further up the leaderboard in 2020.

WR. Wolverines . Donovan Peoples-Jones. 79. player. 811.

The third round seems to be the sweet spot for wide receivers and we’re likely to see tons of them flying off the board in this range. In this scenario, they land one of the freakiest athletes in the draft in Michigan’s Donovan Peoples-Jones.

DPJ was a highly-coveted recruit out of high school but never quite lived up to the hype from a production standpoint with the Wolverines. Some of that can be attributed to quarterback play because there’s no denying Peoples-Jones’ athletic ability after a stunning showing at the NFL Combine.

I really love his attitude and bully mentality between the lines and I think he has a good chance to be a much more productive NFL player than he was in college. DPJ would quickly become one of Sam Darnold‘s favorite outside targets once incorporated into Adam Gase’s offense.

Also keep an eye on Florida’s Van Jefferson in this spot, the son of current Jets wide receivers coach Shawn Jefferson.
