Cleveland Browns 2020 mock draft: Full 7 rounds
By Conor Dorney
Round 3
Cleveland scooped up Andrew Billings from division foe Cincinnati, but still figures to address the interior of the defensive line via the draft.
Ole Miss standout Benito Jones presents a similar athletic profile to Billings and could be a fit for Cleveland in the third round. Jones’ motor runs hot and he’s able to cause a lot of problems despite a true lack of length (32 and 7/8 inch arms) at the position.
New defensive line coach Chris Kiffin helped recruit Jones to Ole Miss back in 2015 and could look to be reunited with his former player here in round three.
The Browns head back to Berkley in round three to select Cal linebacker and Ashtyn Davis’ defensive teammate, Evan Weaver.
Having lost Christian Kirksey and Joe Schobert in free agency, Cleveland will more than likely address the linebacker position early on in the 2020 NFL Draft. Weaver was a tackling robot masquerading as a human being for the Golden Bears, posting consecutive seasons of 150-plus tackles in 2018 and 2019.
Weaver’s lack of athleticism and range may push him down some draft boards, but you can’t help but love the kid’s tenacity and production between the lines. He’s one of those players who will likely outperform the expectations scouts have for him and would be an excellent addition to the Browns defense.
