player. Pick Analysis. NFC. South. 4. Scouting Report. Atlanta Falcons. 44

Will the Atlanta Falcons rise from the ashes of back-to-back years of Jeff Fisher 7-9 B.S.? Atlanta was dreadful to start the 2019 season, but finished the year strong on a 6-2 run after a beyond pitiful 1-7 beginning. This was a team that was in the Super Bowl only four years ago. The Falcons should have the offensive firepower to give their rivals a run for their money in the NFC South.

Atlanta is perceived as the third-best team in its own division after the New Orleans Saints and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. New Orleans is a serious Super Bowl contender, while it would be shocking to see Tampa Bay not make the playoffs with Tom Brady, especially with an expanded field. If Atlanta holds its own in the division like it normally does, they might just make it in.

The stars on the Atlanta roster have ample postseason experience and don’t need to be at home to win a playoff game, though it would absolutely help. But perhaps the reason Atlanta can come out of nowhere and win the NFC South is nobody thinks the Falcons can do it. They went 8-8 the year before getting to Super Bowl 51, who’s to say they can’t get back in 2020?

If the Falcons don’t make the playoffs this year, head coach Dan Quinn is certainly gone. Barring cluster injuries, 2020 can’t be as bad for the Dirty Birds as the two previous years were. Since the NFC doesn’t have a Baltimore Ravens or a Kansas City Chiefs residing in it, all it does is leave the backdoor open for a team like the Falcons to come in and crash the Super Bowl 55 party.
