3. Josh Allen won’t get eight sacks

The Jaguars want to see Allen take another step forward in 2020, but his sophomore campaign is going to be a trying season for the former Kentucky standout. Losing Ngakoue is going to put a ton of pressure on Allen to be the team’s leading sack artist.

A big reason why Allen was able to rack up 10.5 sacks in his rookie campaign is because Ngakoue was drawing double teams on the other side of the formation. With Ngakoue gone, Allen is going to be the focal point of the offensive line’s efforts when it comes to pass blocking.

That will cause the young edge rusher some significant growing pains. It doesn’t mean he won’t blossom into a perennial Pro Bowler in time, but it does mean that he won’t cover himself in glory this season.

To put it bluntly, his sack total is going to take a significant hit. Instead of pushing further into double-digits he’ll fail to get to the quarterback eight times in 2020. Ngakoue’s absence is going to stunt Allen’s growth in his second professional season.
