New Orleans Saints full 2020 NFL mock draft
Former Georgia Bulldogs defensive tackle Tyler Clark could be a major steal for teams picking on Day 3, and while most mock drafts have him going in the sixth or seventh, New Orleans should snap him up earlier.
Clark was a productive interior defensive lineman at Georgia for four years, playing a major role in each of those seasons. He recorded eight tackles for loss and 2.5 tackles for loss as a senior for one of the top teams in the country, impressing Georgia fans with his relentless motor.
The Saints don’t need to prioritize the defensive line by any means, but Clark can help out as a rotational piece at defensive tackle, eventually developing into something more. Like Trajan Bandy, Clark plays with a lot of passion.
Portland State product Charlie Taumoepeau is one of the better tight end prospects in a weak class and could also be a great value selection in the draft’s sixth round. New Orleans has plenty of talent at tight end – namely star man Jared Cook – but Taumoepeau could be an intriguing option, especially since he can play as an H-back. He was even asked to take some reps at running back during the NFL Combine.
A physically strong tight end who lacks speed and might not have the physical tools to be a difference-maker in the passing game at the next level, Taumoepeau could make up for it by bringing an edge to an offense with his run blocking. He could also latch on by making an impact on special teams.
Taumoepeau’s athletic limitations cut his upside, but he has a high football IQ, good hands, and incredible route-running ability. If everything goes well, he could become a viable check down option and an asset in the running game.
