3. Away: Los Angeles Chargers

There has been a ton of roster and coaching staff turnover since the last Chargers-Jets matchup on Christmas Eve at MetLife Stadium in 2017.

Philip Rivers is now an Indianapolis Colt, Adam Gase is the head coach of the Jets and Sam Darnold plays quarterback for Gang Green. That day, Bryce Petty started at signal caller and Todd Bowles was wearing the coaches’ headset.

Yes, times were very different for the Jets. Next time these two teams link up it will be a huge road game for the Jets out in Los Angeles. One they have to win in order to bulk up that road record.

The Chargers probably won’t be as good as they had recently been with Rivers. Barring any sort of massive change, they will either be playing with a veteran place holder or rookie at quarterback in 2020.

No, that does not mean they won’t be good. They have a ton of top skill position players. However, it does mean the Jets defense should be able to force mistakes.

Winning on the road is the difference between the good and bad teams and pretenders and contenders. Going across the country, acclimating yourself to the time change and getting a win would do a lot for the team’s confidence.
