4. Home: Cleveland Browns

The Cleveland Browns and the Jets have had some memorable games over the last few seasons. Baker Mayfield made his NFL debut against the Jets in 2018 when he came in for an injured Tyrod Taylor and secured a comeback win in Cleveland.

Last season, the Browns took another win from the Jets on national television in Week 2 at MetLife Stadium against a depleted Jets roster. Darnold was out due to sickness, Trevor Siemian got hurt in game, and the defense was without C.J. Mosley.

This year the game is back at MetLife and the Jets will want to make a statement, and quite frankly they have to. The Browns are a good, potential playoff team. This will be a measuring stick game against a non-divisional opponent. They need to win it.

Too often have the Jets lost these types of games over the last few campaigns. Times are different now, the team is better, and it’s time to play well against the AFC’s best.

Also, Mayfield has gotten the better of fellow first-round pick Darnold. Darnold has shown he can play up in many games, as he did against Dallas last season, and this is yet another one of those matchups.
