The Carolina Panthers will have a new look in 2020 as both Ron Rivera and Cam Newton will don new threads. Baylor’s Matt Rhule will roam the sidelines as Teddy Bridgewater leads the offense. While it is possible that the Panthers would use this high draft pick on an offensive weapon to begin that new era, they have bigger needs on defense.

Derrick Brown is being viewed as an option at No. 4 to the Giants now, but if they pass and go with Isaiah Simmons he should be Carolina’s for the taking.

At Auburn, Brown played right away as a true freshman. He was mixed into the plays but became a full-time starter in 2017. As a senior, Brown amassed 55 tackles with four sacks and four pass breakups. He also caused two fumbles while leading the team with 12.5 tackles for loss.

At 6-foot-5 and 326 pounds, Brown is a rare athlete with size and physical traits. He is quick off the snap and that speed allows him to dictate the line of scrimmage and running lanes. He is incredibly disruptive. He excels in two-gap scenarios and is a shining star when taking on double teams.

If Brown can develop a lower base he will likely see an increase in sack numbers, and that could make him an All-Pro candidate early in his career.
