Houston Texans at home

The Indianapolis Colts have owned the rivalry with the Houston Texans over their brief history. Since Houston finally returned to the league back in 2002, the Colts are 28-9 against them. Since the beginning of the rivalry, the Texans have swept the Colts just one year, back in 2016.

The Texans got worse this offseason. Spin this however you want, but turning Deandre Hopkins into Randall Cobb and Brandin Cooks is a massive loss. They also added David Johnson, but we can’t be sure if he’ll ever be able to get back to his pre-injury production. The Texans have stars in J.J. Watt and Deshaun Watson, but they continue to shoot themselves in the foot. The Colts need to take advantage of a team that allowed a coach who didn’t deserve it to take over football operations.

A split would be just fine for the Colts, and it’s more than likely they win the games at home. Indy has to beat the Texans at Lucas Oil Stadium. It took Houston until 2015 to win a game in Indy, but since then it’s won three of the past five. The Colts need to re-establish their at-home dominance over their division rival.

The Texans are going to be in desperation mode all season after the moves they made in the offseason. Bill O’Brien may not be on the hot seat, but he wants to prove his moves are right, and that’s a hard proposition to make. If the Colts can take the Texans down a peg, then it gives them the type of feather in their cap that can last weeks, building momentum throughout the season.
