The first two rounds could not have gone better for the Cowboys. After Lamb fell in their laps in the first round, they get Trevon Diggs who was under strong consideration to be their first round pick at No. 17. To get him at No. 49, that’s obviously a great value and could be one of the bigger steals of Day 2.

Diggs, the younger brother of Buffalo Bills receiver Stefon Diggs, comes from a program that’s developed a ton of talent at the position and is well-coached from Nick Saban. He’ll slide in seamlessly as a nickel back initially before competing for a spot in the starting lineup to replace the departed Byron Jones.

Cornerback was one of the most in-demand positions in the first two rounds and the Cowboys can say they got a first-round value on a guy they got in the middle of the second round. If he plays like a first-rounder on a second-round salary, it’ll be an even bigger benefit for the Cowboys as they manage their salary cap situation with Dak Prescott playing on a franchise tender and a monster contract looming.
