9. Indianapolis Colts

Draft Class

  • 2nd round-WR Michael Pittman (USC), RB Jonathan Taylor (Wisconsin)
  • 3rd round-S Julian Blackmon (Utah)
  • 4th round-QB Jacob Eason (Washington)
  • 5th round-G Danny Pinter (Ball State)
  • 6th round-DT Robert Windsor (Penn State), CB Isaiah Rodgers (UMass), WR Dezmon Patton (Washington State), ILB Jordan Glasgow (Michigan)

The Colts didn’t have a first-round pick after trading it for DeForest Buckner, but GM Chris Ballard still found tremendous value with his selections. Ballard hit home runs in the second round with Michael Pittman and Jonathan Taylor, adding some serious weapons to the offensive side of the football.

Pittman was an underrated player in this wide receiver class who had solid production at USC and is ready to step into the No. 2 receiver role opposite T.Y. Hilton. Taylor was also a tremendous rusher at Wisconsin and can team with Marlon Mack to give Indianapolis a lethal combo in the backfield.

The sneaky good pick came in the fourth round when the Colts took Washington quarterback Jacob Eason. Scouts loved Eason’s big arm and mobility, but his decision making played a role in his slide to Day three of the draft.

The Colts can take a shot here to let Eason develop behind Philip Rivers and Jacoby Brissett, both of whom may not be on the roster in 2021. The fact that this class essentially includes Buckner as a result of the trade with the 49ers makes this a home run group for Indianapolis.
