Draft Class

  • 1st round-CB CJ Henderson (Florida), OLB K’Lavon Chaisson (LSU)
  • 2nd round-WR Laviska Shenault (Colorado)
  • 3rd round-DT Davon Hamilton (Ohio State)
  • 4th round-OT Ben Bartch (St. John’s MN), CB Josiah Scott (Michigan State), ILB Shaquille Quarterman (Miami)
  • 5th round-S Daniel Thomas (Auburn), WR Collin Johnson (Texas)
  • 6th round-QB Jake Luton (Oregon State), TE Tyler Davis (Georgia Tech)
  • 7th round-CB Chris Claybrooks (Memphis)

For an organization that needed a lot of things, the Jacksonville Jaguars did some really good work in this draft. Jacksonville was armed with two first-round picks as a result of the Jalen Ramsey trade and used one of them to take his replacement, CJ Henderson out of Florida.

Henderson has drawn rave reviews for his coverage skills, with some scouts rating him higher than Jeff Okudah in that department. The Jaguars doubled down on defense in the first by drafting K’Lavon Chaisson to bolster their edge rush, giving them insurance in the event they trade the disgruntled Yannick Ngakoue.

GM Dave Caldwell also took advantage of a deep receiver class by grabbing Laviska Shenault and Collin Johnson to boost Gardner Minshew’s supporting cast. Shenault’s speed is very impressive, making him a tough cover opposite D.J. Chark on the outside.

The Jaguars also got some good value in the fourth round, snagging offensive tackle Ben Bartch and linebacker Shaquille Quarterman to provide key depth at areas of need. Jacksonville may not win a ton this season but this draft sets them up very well for the future.
