Fantasy Football Winner: Sam Darnold

Full disclosure – I’m a Sam Darnold fan. I think he has great talent.

And now, he’s finally getting his best opportunity to show it.

We’ll get into Denzel Mims in a minute, but oh my god Mekhi Becton looks like he ate Mark Henry.

I’m not going to pretend to be a college football savant and break down the difference between Becton and Tristan Wirfs, who was still on the board and not taken until two picks later.

But Becton looked like he invented the NFL Combine, and Mel Kiper put Becton in the “top-tier of this tackle class.” He added that the Jets could take a receiver in the second round, and that’s exactly what they did.

Denzel Mims’ 1,020 receiving yards were the third-most in the Big 12, while his 12 receiving touchdowns were the second-most, behind only Lamb. The Baylor product is already a massive improve from Robby Anderson, who didn’t have any 1,000 yards seasons with the Jets and seems to be the third receiver on the Panthers now.

Expect Jamison Crowder to see a good target count out of the slot again, while Mims becomes the main outside guy, while Becton holds up everyone and gives Darnold plenty of time to throw.
