4. Rashaad Penny will get 100 carries

The Seahawks spent a first-round pick on Penny in 2018 but he only got 65 carries in 10 games last season. The coaching staff needs for him to carry a heavier load.

That doesn’t mean he’s suddenly going to take over for Chris Carson as the team’s No. 1 running back. The prediction here is that he makes it more of a time share than it was a season ago.

Penny could help himself by staying healthy for a full 16-game slate. If that happens, his rushing attempts total could easily climb closer to 200. The fact that he’s likely to miss a couple of games knocks the prediction down to just breaking the 100-carry mark.

If he and Carson can split the workload it should help the Seahawks running attack stay fresh late in games and late in the season. That’s crucial for any hope Seattle has of winning the NFC West. They’ll need to be excellent from start to finish to put significant pressure on the 49ers. Penny developing into a quality option would be a great way to start.
