3. D.K. Metcalf will catch 80 passes

Metcalf came into the league with a reputation as being a raw prospect at the receiver position. Despite his alleged lack of refinement, he still managed to catch 58 passes for 900 yards in his first NFL season.

The Seahawks need him to take another step forward in year two. That means Metcalf will need to add more consistency to his game in 2020. He made tons of big plays last season, but he needs to move the chains more this time around.

Fortunately, Metcalf’s physical gifts make him an absolute nightmare for opposing defenders. His top-end speed requires cornerbacks to play off him to make sure they don’t give up long throws over the top. This season he needs to prove he can break off his routes in front of them to give Wilson more easy completions.

That subtle shift in philosophy should give Metcalf a higher target share. 80 catches seems like a reasonable goal for the former Ole Miss star. He’ll still finish behind Lockett in catches, but he’s going to narrow the gap significantly.
