Chicago Bears. 4. player. 57. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. NFC. North

The Chicago Bears will need to address the quarterback position here very soon. Though they traded for Nick Foles in a deal with the Jacksonville Jaguars, he’s not a massive upgrade over the incumbent Mitchell Trubisky. Foles will help the Bears win more games next season, but he’s not a long-term solution for the Monsters of the Midway. That’s why they need to pursue Fields.

As with the New Orleans Saints, the Bears are probably not going to be anywhere in the vicinity of being able to draft Fields in the top three, so landing him is very much a pipe dream at this point. Unless Foles gets hurt again and Trubisky busts catastrophically in what would be the final season of his rookie contract, the Bears won’t be in a position to draft Fields in the first round.

But what if they were? What if the Bears pulled all the strings necessary to get to No. 2 overall to land a player the caliber of Fields? Chicago would be must-watch television for the rest of the decade. It would be as if the Bears used their brain back in 2017 and instead of trading up for Trubisky with the San Francisco 49ers, they instead opted to draft Deshaun Watson at No. 3.

Fields has a cleaner bill of health and may be a more natural thrower of the football than Watson, but it remains to be seen if he is every bit as dynamic as the Clemson Tigers legend. Either way, the city would be gaining its most energetic draft pick since the Chicago Bulls drafted native son Derrick Rose No. 1 overall in 2009 out of Memphis.
