Scouting Report. AFC. Pick Analysis. South. Jacksonville Jaguars. 3. player. 52

One of the teams who might be bad enough next season to draft Fields anyway might be the Jacksonville Jaguars. If the end up with the No. 1 overall pick, they’re going to take Lawrence over Fields, as would any franchise in their position. However, if they are in a position to draft him with the second overall pick, they’ll be getting Tony Boselli-level player at the quarterback position.

Gardner Minshew has been awesome and everybody wants the dude to succeed in the NFL even more than he already has. But you have to take a player like Fields if he’s waiting for you on the board. While he never got to star in Jacksonville in college during his brief time at the University of Georgia, we’re looking at potentially the best quarterback in franchise history here.

Obviously, the idea is he’ll be better than Mark Brunell, but that’s no slight to one of the greatest left-handed quarterbacks of all time. By drafting Fields, the Jaguars will probably get to stay in North Florida. Not that they were going to move back in the early 1990s, but this will be the type of spark plug Brett Favre brought to the Green Bay Packers many years ago in a small market.

Jacksonville becomes nationally relevant, something they haven’t been for well over a decade outside of the 2017 Sacksonville defense. Frankly, if the Jaguars get Fields, they should tell the NFL somebody else should become London’s Finest instead of them. Everyone in Duval County will congregate on fall Sundays to watch their franchise’s savior become a national legend.
