3. Everson Griffen

Just about every offseason, when it comes to New York’s needs, edge rusher is at the top.

Even in some of their more recent great defensive years, they lacked that player who could consistently get to the quarterback. Last year, the team was among the bottom of the league, ranked 23rd in total sacks. Drafting Jabari Zuniga in the third round could be a nice young piece, but an established veteran could make an immediate impact.

A perfect fit would be four time Pro Bowler, Everson Griffen. At age 32 last season, Griffen started and played in 15 games, accumulating eight sacks. Still with plenty of juice in the tank, Griffen would benefit greatly in Gregg Williams’ defense. Williams was able to get the most out of a team depleted with injuries.

Adding Griffen to a linebacker stable of C.J. Mosley, Avery Williamson, Patrick Onwuasor and Jordan Jenkins would be dangerous. Griffen would have the luxury of not having to be an every down player with plenty of chances to get to the quarterback.
