Jason Peters

This one might be cheating, since there is a rumor that Jason Peters wants to return to Philadelphia, but it still makes a lot of sense. The Eagles are staring at Andre Dillard at the left tackle position.

A position that’s extremely important since it’s protecting a quarterback in Carson Wentz who has a history of injuries, especially concussions. Jason Peters also has a history of injuries, but if they bring in Peters, the Dillard can act as depth instead of the only option.

Peters had a very good season despite his age in 2019. Despite those three missed games, he stayed mostly healthy. Peters is a pro who could jump into the regular season with zero preseason reps, and Dillard is not that type of player.

With the COVID-19 pandemic creating an offseason like we’ve never seen before, it’s crucial to find players who can fill roles.

Peters fills a very important role, and he’s likely someone Carson Wentz and the Eagles coaching staff trusts. They allowed him to test free agency, which they could spin to Dillard to build his confidence. However, Peters is a Philadelphia legend, and he’s been with the Eagles since 2009.

Peters deserves the chance to end his career in Philadelphia, and the Eagles need depth at the position. There are other options in free agency, like former Bucs offensive tackle Demar Dotson, but to keep their options open with Dillard, Peters makes the most sense.
