9. Buffalo Bills at New England Patriots

This contest will be critical in determining who wins the AFC East, which has not been very competitive for a long time. That division has been the domain of the New England Patriots for the better part of two decades, but things could be changing in 2020.

The big difference is obviously Tom Brady’s departure from New England. Brady, along with head coach Bill Belichick, has been a constant in the Patriots’ run of 17 AFC East championships over the past 19 years.

The Miami Dolphins and New York Jets each have one division title in that span while the Buffalo Bills haven’t claimed one since 1995. The Bills are poised to snap that drought this season on the strength of a deep roster built to help ascending young quarterback Josh Allen reach his full potential.

The problem for Buffalo is that New England has owned them for the better part of that run, including a season sweep last season when the Bills had a shot at the division title. Finding a way to beat the Patriots is the key to Buffalo’s AFC East hopes and doing it at Gillette Stadium is paramount.

This contest could well signal the changing of the guard in the AFC East, making it highly appealing to even casual fans. Everyone loves seeing a giant fall and this could be a chance to watch mighty New England crash back to Earth without Brady.
