Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. . 43. LF. Clint Frazier. 3. player

It’s about two years too late for Frazier.

Pity exists for the 25-year old. His offensive talent jumps out at you. His bat speed is incredible. He was arguably the team’s most valuable player in the month of April last year, and owned an .843 OPS on June 16. Frazier was finally looking like he was becoming an every day outfielder

But after poor defensive play and even worse showings with the media, Frazier was unofficially punished, and sent down to Triple-A until the rosters expanded in September. While Frazier was in Scranton, Mike Tauchman became the next “next man up.” In 87 games last year, Tauchman blasted 13 homers and drove in 47 runs with an .865 OPS.

The Yankees had to wait for Frazier to perform. Tauchman spent no time becoming a reliable bat in the lineup.

Frazier has always been a player with character question marks, and he did himself no favors last year.

When everyone is healthy, Frazier is a fourth outfielder, at best (this includes Giancarlo Stanton). Maybe when Brett Gardner is likely done after the 2020 season, the Yankees can have a Frazier-Hicks-Judge outfield from left to right, with Stanton DH’ing full time.

But with Tauchman’s surge last year, Frazier’s roster spot, and future is in question. Get what you can for him now, before it’s too late.
