4. Patrick Mahomes

The Chiefs roster is full of exceptional offensive talent, but Mahomes is the guy who brings everything together on game day. Kansas City will not be able to defend its Super Bowl title without its All-Pro quarterback at the controls of the attack.

Availability will be just as much of an issue as his level of play in 2020. Mahomes’ playoff success has caused plenty of fans to forget about all of the injury issues he dealt with during the regular season.

It’s not just that Mahomes missed two regular season games. The bigger issue is how limited his mobility was for several of the games he did play in. The Chiefs can’t afford for their franchise superstar to be a sitting duck for multiple games again this year. Protecting Mahomes and keeping him upright should be the team’s top priority.

As long as that happens, there’s no reason to think he won’t put up video game numbers in this offense. Mahomes has a responsibility to preserve his body too. Learning to throw the ball away a little more often might be the biggest step forward he can take this year.
