15. Gregg Marshall, Wichita State

Salary: $3.6 million | Buyout: $15 million

At the conclusion of a four-year playing career at Randolph-Macon in Virginia, Gregg Marshall first started as a coach as an assistant with his alma mater for two years. There were three other stops as an assistant coach for him, last with the Marshall Thundering Herd before he took his first head coaching job with Winthrop.

Though he was a rookie in the coaching ranks, Marshall proved himself right away with the Eagles. In his first season, he took Winthrop to a 21-8 overall record and finished first in the Big South. He would go on to lead the Eagles to seven NCAA Tournament berths in nine years with the program and also became the winningest coach in Winthrop history before leaving for Wichita State.

Just as he did at Winthrop, Marshall has been immensely successful as one of the most heralded mid-major coaches in the country, particularly for one who has not left for bigger, greener pastures just yet.

Marshall is the winningest head coach in Wichita State program history, posting a 337-119 record with the Shockers in his 13 years with the team. Moreover, Marshall also led his team to the first Final Four appearance in the history of the program in 2013 while also making an additional Sweet 16 appearance as well. He may be a lifer at Wichita State, which the Shockers are surely happy about.
