2. DE Everson Griffen (Minnesota Vikings)

It’s somewhat of a surprise that he still on the open market. But defensive end Everson Griffen has not yet found a home this year. There was some talk he could return to the Twin Cities. And one rumored landing spot was the defensive needy Seattle Seahawks. But as of this writing, the veteran defender remains unemployed.

He was a fourth-round draft pick by the Minnesota Vikings in 2010. And the former USC standout delivered during his tenure with the Purple Gang. The four-time Pro Bowler amassed 74.5 sacks during his stay in Minneapolis and the vast majority of that came in the past six seasons when he became a steady part of the starting lineup.

Since 2014, he’s racked up 57 QB traps, seven forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries in 88 regular-season outings. Griffen also started at least 10 games in each of those six campaigns and all of his Pro Bowl invitations have come over that span.

This offseason, the Dolphins signed free-agent defensive ends Shaq Lawson (Bills) and Emmanuel Ogbah (Chiefs). But they also parted ways with Taco Charlton and dealt 2017 first-round pick Charles Harris to the Falcons this offseason while John Jenkins left for Chicago.

The search is on to improve a pass rush that managed a league-worst 23 sacks this past year and Griffen could certainly help.
