3. Terry McLaurin

McLaurin deserves a lot of credit for producing 58 catches for 919 yards last season despite the struggles the team endured at quarterback. The hope is that a more consistent presence under center will help him be even better in 2020.

The offense needs him to step up and play like a No. 1 wide receiver. The talent surrounding him on the team’s receiving corps just isn’t very good. He’s going to face consistent double teams and he can’t afford to let that stop him from making big plays.

The key for McLaurin will be to increase the number of routine plays he makes while still keeping up his high volume of big plays. That’s a big challenge for a young receiver, but he’s got the speed to take a significant step forward.

Of course, McLaurin’s development will defend on the play the team gets from the quarterback position. If Haskins struggles it will limit what the team’s No. 1 wide receiver can produce. Washington hopes the two blossom into a duo that torments NFL opponents for years to come.
