Chicago Bears: 5 free agents to sign in order to win in 2020
By Gino Terrell
2. Everson Griffen
Picking up Everson Griffen would be huge for the Bears.
If the Bears slot Griffen at right end with Akiem Hicks on the other side, this could be a threatening pair. The added talent could give this already talented Bears defense a jolt.
Griffen is coming off his fourth Pro Bowl season in the past five years. The 32-year-old piled up eight sacks and 11 tackles for losses in 2019. While the veteran has certainly shown he has enough in the tank to produce, Griffen has not garnered much interest in free agency thus far.
If this trend continues it could possibly help the Bears talk him down at contract negotiation time. Reportedly Griffen’s price tag would start at $10 million, possibly higher. Reportedly, if it is the right situation he would take a $10 million offer. Only time will tell if general manager Ryan Pace can work some magic to bring in Griffen.
If Bears are able to add Griffen and he balls out of his mind in 2020, that Bears defense could be a historically great unit.
