Green Bay Packers free agency target: Jordan Reed, TE

Availability has always been the biggest issue when it comes to a very talented player that made a significant impression when he was on the field.

Tight end Jordan Reed was a third-round draft choice by the Washington Redskins in 2013. The former University of Florida product spent six seasons in D.C. and made his presence felt from the get-go. He played in nine games as a rookie and finished with 44 catches for 499 yards and three scores. Two years later, he was targeted 114 times in 14 contests and snared 87 passes for 952 yards and 11 touchdowns. A season later, he was named to the Pro Bowl after totaling 66 receptions, six for TDs.

In six campaigns with the ‘Skins, Reed finished with 329 receptions, good for 3,371 yards and two dozen touchdowns. But he never played a full season and missed a total of 31 contests over that span. Last summer, he suffered a concussion during the preseason and missed all of 2019.

This offseason, the Packers parted ways with tight end Jimmy Graham, who didn’t come up as big as anticipated in two seasons with the club. A year ago, the team used a third-round pick on Jake Stoneberger. So is Reed worth the risk and can he stay on the field for an entire season?
