Tigers Woods has Sunday red on for The Match
By Jake Starr
Tiger Woods has brought out his Sunday best for today’s match with Phil Mickelson, Peyton Manning and Tom Brady.
For the first time in a few months, Tiger Woods is back on the links. Of course, it only makes sense that Woods would break out his Sunday best. The 82-time PGA Tour winner will participate in “The Match” on Sunday with his classic red shirt and black shorts.
Woods will be joined at his home Medalist Golf Club in Florida by Phil Mickelson. Joining Woods and Mickelson will be future NFL Hall of Famers Peyton Manning and Tom Brady. The four will be competing to raise money for charity.
The four have combined for 28 championships when taking majors and Super Bowls into account. Tiger and Phil previously played a match in Nov. 2018, but now we’re adding the NFL element.
Michelson won last time and there had been rumblings of a potential rematch. That has now come to fruition as the pair is joined by Brady and Manning. Tiger will be joined by two-time Super Bowl champion Manning. While Phil is teamed up with the six-time champion Brady.
It will be match-play format, but there will be some wrinkles in the format of the match. More details on how the format plays out can be found here.
Tiger and Peyton are the favorites as Manning gets the slight edge over Brady for their abilities on the golf course. Woods, when healthy, can certainty still play at a very high level.
This is the second straight weekend of live golf as fans await the return of the PGA Tour. The tour is set to return on June 11 at Colonial Golf Course.
