Big Ten Co-Runner Up. Scouting Report. No. 9 Coaches/No. 8 AP. 2006 (11-2). 5. player. 811. Pick Analysis

Michigan football finishes in the top-10 in 2006.

Some might be scratching their head with this one to lead things off but the 2006 Michigan football team was dominant. The Wolverines started the 2006 season 11-0 and reached number two in the AP rankings.

The Wolverine offense averaged just under 30 points a game and held all but two of their first eleven opponents to under 17 points. The offense had quite the trio in quarterback Chad Henne, running back Mike Hart and wide receiver Mario Manningham, while the defense was LaMarr Woodley and Alan Branch.

The Wolverines were on track to play for their first national championship since 1997. But the end of their season could be one of the most heartbreaking in program history. The Wolverines lost 42-39 to number one ranked Ohio State and then despite being tied 3-3 at halftime, lost to USC in the Rose Bowl 32-18.

The end of the 2006 season did not go as planned but this Wolverine squad was one of the most dominant teams that season and in program history, landing them at No. 5 on our list of the best Michigan football seasons.
