Kansas City Chiefs trade: Haason Reddick comes from Arizona

One of only two starters the Chiefs lost from the Super Bowl team was linebacker Reggie Ragland. The team envisions rookie second-round pick Willie Gay, Jr. stepping in and filling that hole, but even if he does, the team’s depth at the linebacker position is terrifying and thin.

Among the biggest disappointments is Dorian O’Daniel, who has simply failed to make an impact despite talent to do so.

Because of that, the Chiefs could be on the prowl for a veteran rebound-candidate like Haason Reddick. The Cardinals seem primed to move on from the former first round pick after selecting Isaiah Simmons eighth-overall in this year’s draft. The team could also stand to boost the pass rush, to help the pass defense.

Kansas City also suddenly has a logjam at defensive end after the emergence of Tanoh Passagnon in 2019, the free agent signing of Taco Charlton, and the selection of Michigan’s Michael Danna to team up with returning starters Frank Clark and Alex Okafor.

It’s tough to see the team keeping six ends, so Breeland Speaks, who missed all of 2019 with injury after failing to produce in 2018 as a rookie, could be the odd man out.

Veach has taken numerous chances on former high draft picks who’ve failed to pan out with their original teams, and some have paid off (Emmanuel Ogbah most notably), and others have not (like Darron Lee). This is another home run swing from Veach.
