Dak Prescott trade: 5 NFL teams who should call Cowboys
By Gino Terrell
Dak Prescott trade partner: Detroit Lions
The Detroit Lions have been thought to begin searching for a quarterback to replace 11-year veteran Matthew Stafford. With the aging veteran now 32 years old, the Lions are seeking a new franchise quarterback. With Stafford as trade bait, they could possibly put together a package where they could land Prescott.
It would take more than Stafford, but having him in a trade package may intrigue the Cowboys. Stafford grew up in Dallas and played high school football in the area. Maybe the nostalgia would have the Cowboys consider him. Dallas could use Stafford as a bridge quarterback until it drafts its quarterback of the future.
The Lions would have to throw in multiple picks to get this trade to go through. With the Lions playing in the NFC North, they will more than likely finish last in 2020. That could give the Cowboys a favorable draft choice come 2021. It could be a win-win for both football clubs.
The Lions could finally obtain the franchise quarterback they have long desired. The Cowboys would have long-view salary cap relief with an opportunity to select their guy for the future.
