Florida football should get off to a hot start.

Sept. 5 – vs. Eastern Washington

There should be little doubt about the season-opener in Gainesville. This should be a big game for Trask and the offense to get their feet under them early in the season but, more importantly, for the defense to start to take shape with so many players assuming larger roles. Regardless, this will be a rout in favor of the Gators: Prediction: Win

Sept. 12 – vs. Kentucky

As I’ve said before, it was remarkable what Kentucky accomplished last season despite all the adversity they faced, which is a testament to Mark Stoops. And while he remains a good coach, this roster has me worried, especially on offense. The Wildcats don’t have anything on the roster that makes me think they can challenge Florida’s defense, even if that’s not a unit I’m wholly confident in. Prediction: Win

Sept. 19 – vs. South Alabama

Much like the Eastern Washington matchup, the Gators’ third straight game in Gainesville matches them up against an opponent that should be a cakewalk. South Alabama isn’t going to be able to stop any of the Florida weapons consistently and the starters should be sitting by midway through the third quarter. Prediction: Win

Sept. 26 – at Tennessee

Here’s where things get interesting for the Gators. Tennessee is on the rise under Jeremy Pruitt and has a recipe to win. The Vols should have one of the best offensive lines in the country if healthy. For me, in Florida’s first road game of the 2020 season, that will be the decisive factor, along with a high-upside Tennessee defense. Pruitt’s club will control the action and pick up a signature win in Knoxville. Prediction: Loss
