4. The receiving corps is underrated

The Rams deserve criticism for their failure to provide Goff with a bona fide No. 1 wide receiver. That doesn’t mean the group is bereft of talent. There’s a case to be made that the Rams have one of the deepest wideout groups in the NFL.

Cooper Kupp doesn’t blow anyone away with elite size or athleticism but he can catch a ton of balls in this offense. He didn’t catch 94 passes for over 1,100 yards last year by accident. Expecting his production to diminish would be a mistake.

Robert Woods returns as the team’s No. 2 option and he caught 90 balls in 2019. Unlike Kupp, he does have size and athleticism that allow him to make big plays over the top. Look for the coaching staff to try to give him a few more opportunities to make big plays down the field in 2020.

The most interesting guy in the receiver group will be rookie Van Jefferson. He made a lot of plays at Florida despite not being the world’s best athlete. His exceptional route running skills could allow him to flourish in McVay’s offense.

Add it all up and Goff has a good, but not great, group of wideouts to work with. He’ll need to spread the ball around in 2020 but the group can help prop him up.
