Skip The Bachelor: Greatest Seasons — Ever! and speak up about the racism plaguing the franchise.

We have comforting news: The Bachelor: Greatest Seasons — Ever! is not good. You don’t need to block off three hours every Monday because of Bachelor Nation FOMO.  Which is good news because there are so many more important things to be doing right now! (And better forms of Bach/entertainment escape, should you need a moment for self-care.)

The Bachelor franchise has long come under fire for its lack of diversity in casting, and then, once it got marginally better at casting, setting its contestants of color, particularly its Black contestants, up to fail, forcing them into offensive storylines and edits (e.g. the angry black woman) and putting them in houses with known racists in the name of drama. The fandom, quick to interrogate what it means to watch The Bachelor as a feminist, has let this slide for far, far too long.

This week on the podcast, we do our best to navigate the subject as white women, specifically discussing the new Bachelor Diversity Campaign and anti-racism petition as well as Rachel Lindsay’s moving Honestly Rach post. We also talk a bit about the new haphazard clip/reunion show The Bachelor is airing and Sean Lowe’s season and, again, why you should absolutely feel good skipping it.
