5 NFL teams that might be looking for a new quarterback sooner than it seems
A team that could be in for a real shock when they’re forced to look for a new quarterback is the Los Angeles Rams, who took Jared Goff first overall in the 2016 NFL Draft. Goff took some time to get going, but was able to lead his Rams to the Super Bowl in the 2018 season.
Even though LA lost the sport’s biggest game, Goff and his Rams still had a lot of hype entering 2019 and as a result, Goff was rewarded with a four-year extension worth $134 million. With money like that, he had to be their long-term plan at quarterback, right?
Eh, maybe not.
The Rams missed out on the playoffs in 2019 and were nowhere near as explosive as they had been the season prior. Goff wasn’t bad by any means, but he certainly wasn’t as effective as he had been in 2018, throwing for ten less touchdowns and four more interceptions this past season.
If Goff has another down year, the Rams very well could be looking into finding another signal caller for them who doesn’t cost them as much dough.
