Running Back:

1.              Christian McCaffrey, CAR

2.              Saquon Barkley, NYG

3.              Dalvin Cook, MIN

4.              Ezekiel Elliott, DAL

5.              Derrick Henry, TEN

Running back is typically viewed as the most valuable asset in fantasy football. The players in this category could realistically go picks 1 through 5 at the top of redraft leagues.

I think most groups of rankings will have a similar top 5, give or take one player. However, after the near unanimous top ranked Christian McCaffrey, the other four players’ order may vary.

Saquon Barkley has all the talent in the world, and an offense primed to run around him. An improved offensive line and some bulletin-board material will catapult him back into fantasy superstardom.

Cook operates in an offense that is set up to be one of the few run-first teams left in the NFL. The combination of skill and opportunity lead to a top 3 ranking.

Elliott rounds out the top tier, with the potency of the Dallas offense giving Elliott the number 4 spot. Last year’s rushing yardage leader, unlike his QB counterpart, I do not see replicating such an incredible season. His talent level, however, lands him at the top of my second tier of fantasy backs, at number 5.
