October is the toughest stretch of the Utah football schedule.

Oct. 2 – vs. USC Trojans

The only team Utah lost to in the regular season in 2019 was USC. The Southern California Trojans snuck up and beat the Utes in an entertaining contest that was decided by one score. Utah will be looking for revenge for the way last season’s game played out, but USC should come out on top as the Trojans continue to experiment and improve offensively thanks to Graham Harrell. Prediction: USC wins 38-28.

Oct. 10 – at Washington State Cougars

The Washington State Cougars are entering into the post-Mike Leach era with another brilliant offensive mind at the helm. Nick Rolovich and the Cougars are a great fit together, but there’s no guarantee that year one will be great for them. Utah’s losing streak ends in Pullman after a long week. Prediction: Utah wins 34-31.

Oct. 17 – vs. Washington Huskies

Washington, much like Washington State, is having to break in a new head coach. The Huskies have entered the Jimmy Lake era after Chris Petersen stepped away. Lake has a lot to prove in his first year as a head coach, and the fact that this game is being played in Salt Lake City likely gives Utah the edge over the Huskies. Prediction: Utah wins 27-20.

Oct. 29 – at UCLA Bruins

Chip Kelly has a lot of building still to do at UCLA. The Bruins are still a mess of a program and it might be a while before they start winning consistently. Utah will be fresh off of a bye week and will be poised to end the month of October on a high note. Prediction: Utah wins 38-21.
