Red Sox dropped a hype video to remind us that baseball is, in fact, returning soon

With real, live baseball on the horizon, the Red Sox have us covered with a hype video.
Our sweet Summer might not be gone, after all. The boys of the season are reporting to camp this week to undergo COVID-19 testing, and to mark the occasion, the Boston Red Sox are readying one of the crown jewels of baseball in their very own Fenway Park.
Boston’s prospects for this coming season are relatively unknown, having dealt Mookie Betts and David Price out west to the Los Angeles Dodgers. Nonetheless, in a shortened 2020 season, every team has a genuine opportunity to make a postseason push.
The Red Sox dropped a hype video to mark a return to baseball.
Fenway won’t feature fans in 2020, but the aura of Opening Day is still in the air, even without peanuts and crackerjacks. MLB’s challenge will be to get us to Opening Day to begin with, as COVID-19 continues to threaten a sports landscape holding on by a thread.
Boston fans will be on the lookout for Alex Verdugo and Jeter Downs, the two top prospects they acquired from the Dodgers in the deal for Betts and Price. While Chaim Bloom’s decision-making to cut costs and rebuild the farm isn’t one Boston is familiar with, building from within is a management style he’s grown accustomed to from his days in Tampa Bay.
The trick for the Red Sox will be to take advantage of the bottom feeders in the AL East, especially with a division-centric schedule. That’ll be easier said than done, of course, with the improvement of the young Toronto Blue Jays, and constant threat of the Tampa Bay Rays.
A hype video is only the start, but it marks a sight baseball fans have been clamoring for for quite some time — a sport readying itself for actual game action.
