Pick Analysis. 1. player. Lance Lynn. 126. Scouting Report. P. Texas Rangers

Calling Lynn’s resurgence in 2019 surprising is the understatement of the millennium, as Lynn went from a complete afterthought to a guy who won 16 games and struck out 246 batters despite playing most of his games in the Texas summer heat. The Rangers’ fancy new ballpark might not see a lot of winning baseball this year, which could force the Rangers to consider parting with either Lynn or Mike Minor to beef up their threadbare farm system.

As impressive as Lucas Giolito is and as promising as prospects like Dylan Cease and Michael Kopech sound, relying on unproven young players to carry the back end of that rotation in the playoffs is simply foolish. Even if it requires parting with a quality prospect in the Dane Dunning or Zack Collins tier, being passive and allowing rivals like the Indians and Twins to beat you to the post is a good way to make sure that Chicago stays buried in the doldrums of third place.

Lynn on the South Side almost seems like too perfect of a fit, and he would form a fearsome duo at the top of the rotation with Giolito.
