126. . . . Danny Santana, CF, Texas Rangers. 2. player

Continuing with the theme of former Twins that Minnesota should try to reacquire at the August 31 deadline, Santana broke into baseball as a shortstop with the Twins, but finally started to put it all together at the plate last year with the Rangers when he clubbed 28 home runs. The Twins don’t have a glaring need at any particular starting spot, and their backups are generally rock-solid as well. If they want to improve their offense, adding a swiss army knife like Santana might be the most prudent option.

Santana, who is expected to be the everyday centerfielder for the Rangers, might be redundant to some given the presence of fellow utility star Marwin Gonzalez, but his ability to fill in anywhere and everywhere, all the while showing off a new-found power stroke, makes him a solid addition for Rocco Baldelli’s group that won’t require them to trade any of their top prospects. If the power is not just a product of a juiced ball, this trade could become a steal.
