Scouting Report. Detroit Tigers. 2. player. Pick Analysis. RP. Joe Jimenez. 63

Jimenez is the de-facto closer on a Tigers team that features one of the most threadbare bullpens we’ve seen in recent memory. While a 4.34 ERA over the last two seasons isn’t exactly elite stuff, he has shown that he can get clutch outs when called upon. His explosive stuff, which features a heavy, running fastball and electric slider hint at the possibility that the 25-year-old righty’s best seasons are still to come.

The Cardinals’ once rock-solid bullpen is starting to come apart at the seams, as Andrew Miller is no longer pitching like an All-Star and Jordan Hicks is still working his way back from Tommy John Surgery. The Tigers could try to use this desperation to twist the Cardinals’ arms and force them to give away a top prospect like Ivan Herrera or Zach Thompson, but the Cardinals should be willing to make that deal to secure Jimenez.

If Miller starts to return to his old, dominant self, the three-headed monster of Jimenez, Miller, and Giovanny Gallegos should be enough to lock up plenty of wins for the Cardinals.
