IF. . 128. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. Geoff Blum. 3. player

Geoff Blum is a true Chicago legend and he only had one at-bat the entire series. He stepped up to the plate in the top of the 14th inning in Game 3. The game was tied 5-5, and there were two outs after the Astros turned a double-play to seemingly shut down any chance of a rally.

One more out was needed by Ezequiel Astacio to give his team a chance to win in the bottom of the 14th. Then Blum mashed a home run to give the White Sox the lead and wheels fell off. Astacio gave up two singles and two walks before being taken out of the game with the Astros trailing 7-5.

Blum’s game-winning home run is one of those trivia answers that diehard fans know. He was traded to the White Sox during the 2005 season and hit one home run in 31 games. So naturally he hit one on the biggest stage to demoralize the Astros and essentially clinch the series for his new team.

Blum had been with the Astros from 2002-03 and even returned from 2008-10. But the best moment of his career came in a White Sox uniform on the biggest possible stage.
