Scouting Report. William Jackson III. player. 56. Pick Analysis. CB. Cincinnati Bengals. 2

William Jackson was a stud cornerback for the Houston Cougars throughout his collegiate career, leading to him being selected in the first round of the 2016 NFL Draft by the Bengals. His career would start out strong, but his production fell off a cliff as the years went on.

His first year was lost after tearing a pectoral muscle in Bengals training camp. But in 2017, Jackson looked like the next young elite corner, as he had a forced incompletion rate of 39.5%, according to Pro Football Focus. In 2018, Jackson was relatively stout in Cincinnati’s secondary (18.8% forced incompletions).

But last year, the young corner was a liability for the Bengals. Jackson was targeted 64 times, where he allowed 549 yards and three touchdowns. And of those targets, Jackson forced just two incompletions. That’s not what a team expects from their top cornerback.

Now that he’s entering the final year of his rookie deal, Jackson has to step his game up not just to earn his spot on the Bengals, but to increase his price on the open market next March.
